A quick post , hopefully another will follow later today...
Crochet Rose Tutorial
Requirements:
DK weight yarn (I used Rowan's DK Handknit Cotton)
Crochet Hook size 3.75mm
Tapestry needle for sewing up
Scissors
Pattern:
You are going to chain 40 stitches. Each rose petal will be formed by 5 crochet stitches: SC,DC,TC,DC,SC, in that order. You will work these 5 stitches into every alternate chain stitch, ie skip a chain stitch between petals.
Oh, I LOVE this rose. Just LOVE it. I'm going to make my daughter make one for me. I'm using up all my hand work time trying to conquer the knit thing. But she's ace at the hook. And I've sent her to you, so she's reading you, too. Thank you so much. YOu are one of the most generous souls I know, my dear one. And this rose just charms.

ReplyDeleteOne request: when you add print to your pictures could you use a darker color, light colors against a light background are very hard to make out by those of us with vision problems.
BTW I adore the African flowered Teddy bear in your header.

ReplyDeleteWhat chain should the petal start in? Is it the 4th or 3rd chain?

ReplyDeleteI am a beginner crocheter. i have had a heck of a time trying to find ANYTHING I CAN DO right away, and these are wonderful!! I know the stitches, I just can't read the crochet special phonics patterns.....its like trying to decode a CIA paper. Anyway, these are going on every other square of my Single Crochet Queen Size blanket I am making for my best friend. These will give it the life it needs!!! TANKS SO MUCH!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for making this so easy to follow. I've tried so many flower patterns and just didn't understand what they meant, but seeing it in pictures really helped.
