Garden in the morning

Hello my friends!

You are all so awesome...I was surprised and elated to see that there were comments on my blog!!!! Thank you so much :)) ( see the double smile...you have made my day!) A blogger friend suggested I increase "entries" (if that is the right word?) for the giveaway, by asking if you would "follow" my blog and get three entries... I hope you don't think this too forward... I would love to have some followers :) Thank you also the lovely suggestions, I am going to start working on these ideas asap! Thank you, thank you, thank you....

On another note: I had a truly awesome Kalah class this morning! I haven't felt this sore and exercised for ages... It was a training session that left me feeling that I had really achieved something today, thank you to my awesome instructor Heinrich (you SOOOOOO rock! Thank you!) I also had a long chat with my dear friend Linda. She is the loveliest, most kind-hearted person, and incredibly talented :) I would suggest that you take a look at her wonderful blog, she has just posted an Easter egg tutorial (I am definitely going to knit some for Easter!)

The pics below were taken this morning, just after I got ready for Kalah...everything was quiet and misty. I was struck by how grateful I felt to be surrounded by beauty :)

I think I will try to post a photography post tomorrow. I know that a lot of people have a fear of all those little camera buttons...and perhaps don't know what they mean, never mind how to use the different functions... well, I think we'll start at the beginning and I'll even add "homework" (if you can call it that), that will let you practice a specific thing that you've learned.

If the first post isn't completely finished, I will post by Monday, so keep checking back please. I haven't forgotten about the other suggestions...just working on them, I promise :)

This new endeavour with blogging has made me think about the whole process of writing. I guess some people are naturals, and journalling, writing, blogging etc come easy. I however was never trained in the venerable art of wordsmithing , so I can honestly say that I have to think about what to say, how to present it, and if at the end of it all, it makes sense to someone other than me... I marvel at successful writers and their imagination, and their discipline in perfecting the whole so that others will read their work. There's nothing I love more than reading, it's got to be Rule No 1 for teaching children..."You SHALL read every day my dear..." So, I came across this little bit of info that may well be applied to blogging... what do you think?

On a completely different (second!) note: I found a truly wonderful thing this week. I believe that knowledge is power, and the easier the acquisition of knowledge is made, so the better. Like most people, (I am assuming somewhat here, please forgive me if this doesn't apply...), I own an iPod. Well, I can honestly say that I love it, I travel everywhere with it, I am protective of it, and would rather be soaked to the bone in a rainstorm, than let my precious iPod get wet! I thought that I was reasonably good in terms of using it (for audiobooks, music, podcasts, pics, videos etc), but what I came across, really blew my mind!

If you have an iPod, I (again), am assuming that you are using iTunes to manage your iPod. What I didn't realise, is that there is something called iTunesU, which stands for iTunes University. You can access this via the iTunes store, and if you look at the top of the screen, you'll see a tab that says "App", and next to it a tab that says "iTunesU". Click on this. Basically, Universities around the world have made available their course materials, and audio lectures, for free download!!!! I was so excited to see the staggering amount of material that is available... I have downloaded so much interesting stuff, sync'd it to my iPod and am listening in the car, while I drive. Some of the Uni's have also made their lecture notes available, so you can see diagram etc, while you listen.

Although I admit that this facility may not appeal to everyone, I was so excited to find this, I just have to share!!! :) Let me know what you think...
This was also quite illuminating... are some people naturally happy...or do happy people work at it?
Word of the Day
obscurantism
a noun: meaning
1. opposition to the spread of knowledge
2. being deliberately vague or obscure
That's all for today!
Lots of Love,
Heidi :)
